The 2024 Minnesota Vikings Complete Offensive Manual

Kevin O’Connell, the NFL Coach of the Year award winner, has built a beautiful offense up in the twin cities. I have been eyeing the Vikings for a book for a few years now, and they left me no choice in 2024.The Vikings were constantly looking to generate explosive pass plays. Even with NFL defenses shifting their focus the last few years to two high coverages to take these away, the Vikings seemed to double down on this idea in 2024. Many of these explosives came off of creative tweaks to base concepts. The amount of times they were able to throw over the heads of safeties forced me to replay clips more than I usually do.Explosive offenses aren’t just built out of shots all game. The Vikings are able to dominate in the intermediate windows too. The 2024 Vikings were incredible at attacking the intermediate windows with Digs, Curls, Benches, Diagonals, Crossers, Bangs, Choices, just to name a few(!). They build complementary routes off each, and also check down control to make a sound concept for Sam Darnold.The Vikings run game centers around Outside Zone and Duo. With O’Connell coming from the Rams a few years prior, this is no surprise. His approach has evolved, adapting to his personnel.
